I have no idea what I’m doing, but I’m doing it anyway. Pretty much this has been my motto over the past several years. 🤗 My next adventure is learning how to get our property listed as a Certified Monarch Waystation. Now that our zinnias are grown in, we have so many butterflies! I love following @deannacat3’s adventures and incredible garden, and she inspired me to look into becoming a sanctuary for monarchs since we are seeing more and more of them!

Remember EVERYONE starts as a beginner, no matter what it is. It’s so easy to see people doing things you love and think you could never do it. YES 👏🏻 YOU 👏🏻 CAN! 👏🏻

It’s #meetmygoatmonday, and these are our boys! Ever eager to be fed 🤣 From left to right are Onyx, Mister (aka M&M, since his given name was Mister Misunderstood and we didn’t like that, ha!), and Jasper. Jasper is the baby of the bunch by a few months, but he knows it and gets away with everything 😁 They love to eat and to go on long walks, as long as there are weeds to munch. Fun fact - did you know goats don’t have upper teeth, except for molars?!

I know for me, the more my eyes were opened to how harmful common everyday products were, I couldn’t unsee it! More and more I felt a nudge to research… and then slowly but surely to do better.

I say this so you know that I used to be blind to the reality, but I have done so much research so that you don’t have to.

When we moved here, I envisioned a field full of wildflowers. Of course I had no idea how to do that, so I called our local agriculture extension. She told me some things that sounded overwhelming. We could plant wildflower seeds, but first we’d have to set the current field on fire or put giant tarps out all winter to kill what was in the field already. Then we could plant wildflower seeds, which were literally going to cost thousands based on the amount we would need.

It was actually super discouraging, and my wildflower dreams almost got left in the dusty soil. But one day I saw a bag of gorgeous flower seeds when I was picking up goat feed, and I thought, Why not? It’s certainly not enough seed to sow into the whole area, and I’m definitely not going to burn down the brush before planting them... but why not?

Look at these gorgeous flowers! They are stunning and more beautiful than any flowers I’ve ever seen in person (except my dahlia 🤗). They flank our path through the field, and I often see them lined with pretty butterflies.

How many times do we let overwhelm stop us from even trying? How often do we think ‘I can’t do what I really want to do, so I’m not even going to start’?

This was such a great reminder not to underestimate the power of small beginnings. Don’t ever be afraid of the awkward, messy, unsure start of something new. It may very well lead you right where you want to go.

Never saw the day coming where watching chickens in my backyard would be nightly entertainment 🤷🏻‍♀️😆 It’s never too late to change who you thought you’d be! Where are my chicken friends at?!
